Mumbai, March 27 -- Tusshar Kapoor is thankful that his comic roles in the Golmaal series and Kya Kool Hain Hum (2005) brought him success and recognition. But he has "consciously kept this year's roster full of different genres of films". First up is a black comedy called Shor In The City, followed by Rajshri's romantic film Love U Mr Kalakaar, and then The Dirty Picture.

However, this isn't new for Tusshar. He has been seen in serious films like Khakee (2004) and Shootout At Lokhandwala (2007) as well: "This year is a completely new phase for me. After having made a place for myself in one genre, I feel more confident of experimenting now."

His home production, Shor In The City - directed by debutants Raj and DK - will see Tusshar be a part of one of the three stories in the film, where he will act along side Pitabash and Nikhil Dwivedi. "I play a petty criminal who sells counterfeit books at traffic signals," he reveals.

The black comedy talks about the 'shor' (noise) in peoples' lives in this city. The other two story tracks feature Sendhil Ramamurthy, Abhay Deol's girlfriend Preeti Desai and Telugu actor Sandeep Kishan.

But it's not like audiences won't get to see Tusshar's comic side at all. He does display a subtle sense of humour. "It is a hard hitting film, but is interspersed with comedy. Along with the 'masala' elements, it has alternate international sensibilities," says the actor, adding that Shor was a product of a 15-minute short film made by the debutant directors three years ago. "They added two more tracks and made two cuts - one for the festival circuit, and the other that will hit theatres on April 28."
