SRK pens his story

Mumbai, June 8 -- Shah Rukh Khan's autobiography, 20 Years In A Decade, is set to release soon. The actor, who already has a few official biographies, authored by writer-friends Anupama Chopra, Mushtaq Sheikh, Deepa Gahlot, Nasreen Munni Kabeer and Biswadeep Ghosh, has been penning his story since 1991.

In 2001, he put it on the back burner as the aforementioned authors were releasing their respective books. "I felt like I had lived 20 years in those 10 years. Every year, something interesting happens in my life, so the book doesn't get completed. It's almost complete now, but I will get my writer friends to edit it and release it soon," says Shah Rukh.

"My book is about positivity and hope, and is funny like me. I have tried to write 20 years of my life in the most fun way possible and have penned some selective memories." His favourite chapter in the book is about his parents. "Whoever writes, mentions their parents in good, bad and funny incidents. They pay a tribute to them in that manner. I have also done so," he recalls. The self-confessed voracious reader carries 3,000 e-books on his iPad and has even written a chapter on journalism in his book.

"I know the journalists will give it five stars," he adds, confessing that he doesn't have the time for social networking and doesn't believe in outsourcing it. Though Shah Rukh may soon become an author of sorts, this stint at writing does not mean he is interested in penning film scripts. However, he promises to do a two-month course on screenplay writing before, if at all, he tries it out: "I think film writing is an expert's domain. I can write a story, but I don't think I have the science to pen a full-blown screenplay."
