New Delhi, March 18 -- Adhyayan Suman is set to act in a film to be directed by his father Shekhar Suman. Tentatively titled Heartbeat, Shekhar's directorial debut is a remake of the Hayden Christensen-Jessica Alba starrer Hollywood hit, Awake (2007).
"We are in constant touch with The Weinstein Company to buy the remake rights of the film because we don't want any copyright issues later.
But it won't be an exact copy because the situations and characters are going to be altered," says Adhyayan.
"My mother watched the film and was blown away. She made my father see it too. At that time, I wasn't in Mumbai. So they would repeatedly call me and say, 'Come back, we have got a great film for you.' I was shocked to see an engaging film like Awake so we immediately decided to take up the story," says an excited Adhyayan.
The Sumans have roped in Page 3 writer Nina Arora to pen the script and screenplay, while Niranjan Iyengar will write the dialogue. "We don't want anything to go wrong. That's why we are getting the best people to work on our film," says Adhyayan, who is also enthusiastic about "brilliant new music composer" Gaurav Dagaonkar for this film.
"Being directed by my father will be an interesting experience. I hope to live up to his high expectations. May be, I will call him sir on the sets," he laughs. Adhyayan is currently working on a film that is a remake of popular television show Dekh Bhai Dekh and The Outsider, a modern-day take on Gautam Buddha. In Dekh Bhai Dekh, Adhyayan will be playing his father's role. "It's a huge brand and puts a lot of pressure on me," Adhyayan rues.
