"Paying Guest" lacks freshness, has arid lyrics (Music Review) |
|
Film: "Paying Guest" Music Director: Sajid-Wajid Lyricist: Jalees Sherwani, Wajid Ali and A.K. Upadhyay Singers: Shaan, Earl D'Souza, Wajid Ali, Sonu Nigam, Amrita Kak and Sunidhi Chauhan Rating: **
Composer duo Sajid-Wajid's music is usually fast-paced and foot-tapping, axiomatic in their antecedent albums "Welcome" and "Partner". But "Paying Guest", a blur produced by Subhash Ghai, may abort to amuse music buffs as it lacks freshness.
The soundtrack encompasses four originals and two remixes.
The aboriginal song is "Jack and Jill", which starts with an activated voice. The clip of the number, crooned by Shaan and Earl D'Souza, is apathetic and the clue is top on western agreeable arrangements. But it fails to impress. The above check of the song is the lyrics.
The re-mixed adaptation of "Jack and Jill" is faster and acceptable for the ball floor.
Next is "Nazar se nazaria" with Sunidhi Chauhan singing in her brand arch style. The song has a audible affinity with the hit song "Crazy kiya re" from the cine "Dhoom 2". One can't advice but analyze the two songs due to a affinity in the tunes. While "Crazy kiya re" was a hit, "Nazar se nazaria" is disappointing.
This song too has a remix version, which doesn't add any change to it.
The appellation song "Paying Guest", which is articulate by composer-turned-singer Wajid Ali, fails to bang a ambit either.
The anthology has a adventurous amount "Ya rabula rabbi", which has Sonu Nigam, Amrita Kak and Earl D'Souza abaft the mike. It has annihilation amazing to action and doesn't allure the listener's attention. The music is boilerplate and so are the lyrics.
On the whole, at a time if composers in Bollywood are experimenting with altered sounds and genres, the music of "Paying Guest" lacks freshness, clashing a lot of Subhash Ghai productions.
