Mumbai, March 18 -- We've heard about actors altering holiday dates to complete films they're keen on acting in. But it's not often one hears about actors postponing holidays plans to adjust dates according to the assignments of their co-stars. That's exactly what Rajnikanth has done. It is learnt that Rajni delayed his Himalayan holidays to complete shooting his next, Rana, with Deepika Padukone.

HT Cafe has already reported about how the Chennai-based mega star was keen that Deepika star opposite him in Rana, which his daughter Soundarya is producing in association with Eros International. "Rajni is keen to work with her because she couldn't fit in dates for Robot, the Shankar-directed sci-fi extravaganza that became a huge success last year," reveals a friend of Deepika. So when Rajni conveyed to her that they would weave the production schedule around her dates, there was no way she could refuse.

However, it wasn't easy. Rescheduling the production according to Deepika's dates meant she would shoot for only a few days in a month. Consequently, Rana, which could otherwise be wrapped up in continuous schedules, will now take a little longer to complete. "Deepika had already committed her dates to Desi Boyz and Homi Adajania's film with Saif Ali Khan. Since Rajni sir was keen on casting her, and he understands her previous commitments, he didn't mind that she could give only a few days a month for his film," explains her friend.

It is believed that Rajnikanth is particular about his Himalayan trips, before and after he finishes shooting for films. But since he didn't want to cast anyone else opposite him except Deepika, he's rescheduled his holiday. When asked how she managed to get the country's biggest superstar to adjust his schedules to fit her date diary, Deepika said she was unaware of it. "But if it is so, then I'm really very humbled and honoured. Most importantly, it is my privilege to work with Rajni sir."
