New Delhi, July 7 -- Writer Shobhaa De and the team of the film I Hate Luv Storys are at war. On Monday, Sonam Kapoor, the movie's leading lady, posted on Twitter: "Guys pls (sic) don't take Shobha De seriously. She's a fossil who's getting no action and going through menopause."

Kapoor had re-tweeted a statement made by the film's director Punit Malhotra on the site. Some fans also followed suit.

So, what made Punit and Sonam flip out? A harsh review the writer posted on her blog, in which she ripped the film apart. Titled I Hate Dumb Storys, Shobhaa had written that Punit ought to be "spanked in public". She further said, "As for Sonam, the lassie lacks oomph," and "Imran should keep his shirt on... if he doesn't want the audience to lose theirs."

Minutes after Punit and Sonam made the remarks, both deleted the tweets. But, the director says he 'stands by what he wrote'. "My mom asked me to delete it, because she said I shouldn't stoop to that level," said Punit to HT City. Sonam's spokesperson defended, "She merely wrote 'Haha' in response to what Punit said." Despite attempts, Shobhaa De did not take calls or respond to messages on the matter.
