Mumbai, Aug. 13 -- Sonam Kapoor was never a jeans and T-shirt girl. "My mom (Sunita Kapoor) is a fashion designer. As a kid, I would accompany her to fashion shows and sit with her during trials. I remember seeing Madhu Sapre, Aishwarya Rai and Sushmita Sen and thinking of how beautiful they were.

I always wanted to wear those clothes," recalls Sonam, admitting that she knows a lot about zari, vintage and handicraft.

She loves vintage clothes that have a sense of history, like a Karl Lagerfeld or an Alexander McQueen. "I own a YSL (Yves Saint Laurent) pant-suit. Did you know that the first pant-suit for women was made by him?" she asks.

One of the most expensive dresses in her wardrobe is a black-and- white polka-dotted Valentino gown. Her classic Lady Dior handbag - the same design that Aisha carries around in the film, finds place of pride too.

"We wanted something iconic that is classic and has an edge," explains Kapoor. The Lady Dior handbag, originally associated with Princess Diana and later carried by Hollywood actors Anne Hathway, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cheryl Cole, Mary Kate Olsen and Penelope Cruz, has become synonymous with Kapoor as well.

Besides a brand partnership with Christian Dior, Aisha, had characters wearing high-end costumes from design houses like Chanel, Salavatore Ferragamo and Christian Lacroix. They even wore fashion footwear from Jimmy Choo. "These brands sent us samples, and we chose close to 60 Dior pieces," she exclaims.
