New Delhi, April 16 -- Made in China apparel are a prominent feature in our wardrobe but, for the first time, two of our desi designers will flaunt Indian creations at a Chinese Fashion Week.

Fashion designers Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Nikasha Tawadey will be opening the Shanghai Fashion Week, to be held from May 13-17.

"It is an Indo-China cross-cultural event for which they have invited two Indian designers - one senior and one junior. It is quite an honour," says Tawadey, who has designed for actress Freida Pinto in the past.

"They want us to show Indian clothes and give people there a glimpse of our beautiful traditional creations. Sabyasachi is showing heavy lehengas and saris and I'll be showing the collection I showcased during the Lakme Fashion Week - dhoti pants and salwars with different kurtas. They are Indian creations with a twist," reveals Tawadey. Sabyasachi was unavailable for comment.
