Mumbai, July 30 -- Shraddha Das, who was last seen in Lahore, toplining Nafisa Ali, debutant Aanahad, Shraddha Nigam and the late Nirmal Pandey, will now romance Omi 'Chatur' Vaidya in Madhur Bhandarkar's slice-of-life comedy, Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji.
"I met Madhurji a month ago with my portfolio.
Then, out of the blue, he called me this week to lock my dates. I'm really excited, it's my first big assignment and that too with a National Award-winning director," enthuses Das, who will be playing a radio jockey in the film.
Several new and seasoned actresses had been auditioned for the part, but Bhandarkar zeroed in on one-film-old Das even though he'd seen her only in a brief role in Lahore.
"I haven't seen the whole film, but from what little I have seen of her, Shraddha comes across as a confident and focussed actress," says Bhandarkar, adding that she has the perfect personality for the character he needs to star her for. "Omi and she make a decent pair."
Meanwhile, Lahore's director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan is currently working on his dream project - a sci-fi film. Has Das been offered a role in that film too? "No," she says, "Sanjayji hasn't spoken to me about the film. But I wish him all the best."
